Make your outside space look nice

The space you host your BBQ in is an important aspect of making it a success. You can instantly elevate your outside area by adding a deck – why not consider a custom deck builder? This makes a perfect space for hosting. You should add in some outdoor furniture and accessorize with things such as an outdoor rug, candles, lanterns, and plants. Think about draping some fairy lights or other outdoor lighting that means you can see once the sun sets and invest in a few tables or surfaces where you can easily place food and drink. If you aren’t much of a gardener, find plants that look nice but are lower maintenance for ease!

Think about the food you serve

Before throwing your BBQ, consider the food you want to serve. It’s a good idea to get some picky bits ready that guests can tuck into while you do the cooking. This could include potato chips and nuts. You’ll want things such as burgers and sausages to form the main part of your food, but it’s a good idea to add sides such as coleslaw, potato salad, other salads and bread and butter to also offer guests. Think also about the drinks you want to serve, from cocktails to beers, wines and soft drinks.

Prepare as much ahead of time as you can

Just because you are hosting doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time. Try to prepare as much as you can ahead of the BBQ itself so when your guests arrive you don’t need to be holed up in the kitchen the whole time. Instead, do things such as marinating the meat and preparing salads before your guests come. This way you can just get them out the fridge when they need to be served or cooked and you can spend the time talking, relaxing and having a drink with everyone.
