Simple Ways to Show Your Partner That You Really Care

Falling in love and finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is one of life’s greatest joys. However while things can start off like a fairytale, in time normal life and daily routine do continue and we can fall into habits of taking our partner for granted or even taking our frustrations out on them. We’re only human after all, and no person or relationship is perfect, however, if we want something that’s going to last we do have to nurture the connection we have with our other half. Here are five simple ways you can remind your partner that you love and care about them.

Listen

This is such a simple gesture but something that can be so overlooked in a relationship. When you listen to your partner without passing judgment or interrupting them, you give them ‘the gift of presence’. This is your undivided attention, all of you- it’s a way to show your love and support without the need for any grand gesture. We all lead busy, often chaotic lives- sometimes all you need is a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen. Women tend to have friends that can support them emotionally, whereas men’s friendships don’t tend to be this way. You might be the only person in your partner’s life that he can truly open up to and be vulnerable too, so if he needs to talk through issues or vent then let him know you’re around to listen.

Buy Them a Gift

Celebrating both the big and small things in life is what makes it special. It could be anything from a pay raise at work to a full-on promotion or a new job. Whether it’s big or small, make a point of it- it’s not so much about the material item but the gesture of marking the occasion. Sites like John Henric have lots of things that would make ideal gifts, otherwise, you could find things based on his interests or even make something yourself.

Cook For Them

We’ve all heard the phrase ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ but at the end of the day, cooking for anyone is a nice gesture. Cooking a meal that you know he will enjoy, putting care and love into the dish is a great way to show your appreciation. You could research their favorite dish and find a recipe online, serve it with some wine and lay the table to make it look nice.

Do Something Together

Spending quality time together is so important in a relationship. Of course, you still need to have your own separate friends, hobbies, and interests but to keep bonds close you should be making time for each other too. Do something fun together, it could be anything from an exercise class to a cooking class, a couples massage or a day out. Have a think about what they like to do and then book something as a surprise.
