Identifying Your AdWords Audience Easily

Before you begin setting up your Google AdWords or any other PPC account, the first and most crucial step is knowing and identifying your audience. This is your PPC foundation that leads to more visitors to your website, more sales, less waste of your advertising budget, and the best return on your investment. But how do you do that?

1. Find out Who

Who is your target customer, what do they want, and what do they all have in common? If you sell cat beds, your target audience will be cat owners who may share the same common interest in reading about caring for and entertaining their cats. If that’s the case, then you’ll want to ensure your PPC ads show up on those websites, blogs, and search engine results that are geared toward owning and taking care of cats.

2. Specific Timing

Did you know that timing can be everything when it comes to when your Ad is displayed? PPC ads can be shown at specific times, certain days of the week, or around particular holidays.
So, back to our example mentioning cat beds, if you created a unique holiday cat bed, you’d want to target ads for that cat bed during those specific holidays when more people would have a need and interest in buying them.

3. What Search Terms?

You know the name of the product you are selling. But what would customers call it? Would they nickname it? What are the search terms your target audience is using in search engines? It can differ from state to state, city to city, and industry to industry. For instance, if you know that people in the Triangle refer to your new PPC Raleigh company’s services as ‘AdWords Advertising,’ then you can target your company directly with those keywords, ensuring the best results from your PPC. Raleigh, like many cities, has its own way of speaking. Knowing how the locals speak can make all the difference.

4. Where Your Target Audience Comes From

PPC will often reach people worldwide. Consider where the majority of your audience will come from and what language they speak. Do they live in Raleigh, NC, and travel to and from the Triangle for work? It would be best if you considered targeting your ads specifically to those cities and people in particular.

These simple steps are but a fraction of some of the strategies behind PPC. Still, by following these steps to identify your AdWords to target your audience, you can begin your campaign with a competitive edge, decrease the cost per conversion and enjoy a worthwhile ROI for your business.
