Kid-Friendly Upgrades You Need in Your Home

If you want to make sure that your home is suitable for your kids then here are some of the top upgrades you can make. If you want to find out more then take a look below.

Cabinetry that Hides Sticky Fingerprints

It doesn’t matter how diligent you are at encouraging your kids to wash their hands, because they will always find a way to get their fingerprints over everything. If you want to combat this, then try and opt for darker cabinetry. If you can, opt for ones that are low to the ground. Darker cabinets are ideal at hiding the mess until you can find the time to wipe them down.

Durable Flooring

It’s no secret at all that children of every age can be hard on your floor. This is especially the case if you have carpet or hardwood. Carpet is a magnet for spillages and it’s very easy for kids to scratch hardwood flooring too. If you want to help yourself then one thing you can do is swap out your carpet in any high-traffic area with durable laminate flooring. When you mop up spilt cereal, you will be glad that you made the decision to renovate. If you want to opt for a softer alternative then consider using foam mats or even rugs, as you can remove or replace them with ease.

Timeless Bathroom Upgrades

If your kids share a bathroom, then you may be tempted to customize it so that it meets their needs. This is great, but you need to remember that kids grow quickly. Don’t be tempted to install a lower vanity for them, and instead install a standard one with a stool. For the countertop, opt for quartz rather than granite. The benefit of this is that it is much more durable. If you replace the flooring, then opt for textured porcelain rather than something smoother as it will stop slips and falls from happening.

Convenient Appliances

Dishwashers are great, as they cut down on the amount of washing up you have to do after every meal. You can also invest in an under sink water heater if you want, as this means you will be able to access hot water much faster.

Bunk Beds

Bunk beds never really go out of style. This is especially the case when it comes to kids. If you want to help your children, then one thing you can do is invest in their personal space by building bunk beds. Not only do they look fantastic, but they can also be customized to meet their personality.

Wide Spaces

If your home doesn’t follow an open concept, then why not knock down a couple of walls? An open-concept home makes it easier for you to watch what the kids are doing while you are in the kitchen and this can work in your favor. It also means that they have the freedom to do whatever they want without you having to constantly monitor them, which is great, to say the least.
