[Credit]

At some point or another, we all end up looking at moving home. Very few people will stay in the same property for their entire lives. So, this is something that you should always make sure you are prepared for. If you’re considering moving home at the moment, there are plenty of considerations that you will have to mull over – especially if you have little ones. You might want to consider why you want to move property. Do you need more bedrooms? Do you need a garden? Do you need to live closer to schools or recreational activities that will improve your little ones’ future? When you have kids, it’s generally best to make sure that you’re moving for a good reason to justify the upheaval of their day to day lives. Once you have a picture of why you’re moving and what you’re looking for in your next property, it’s a good idea to do some house viewings. Viewing a property will make sure you know what the space is like and if you really want to live there. Of course, sellers will always do their utmost to present their property in its best light and may try to cover up less desirable aspects of the space. Here are a few things you should look out for when viewing!

Damp or Mold

Damp and mold are huge issues in some homes that can be extremely difficult and costly to resolve. Of course, nobody wants damp or mold in their homes. But if you have children, it’s especially important that you don’t. These are bad for health and can cause or aggravate all sorts of respiratory issues. Make sure to check behind furniture that is held against the walls to ensure that there isn’t damp anywhere in the property.

Pests

Pests in the property can also pose a big issue down the line. You would probably rather avoid the process of attempting to move animals on carefully and humanely, or calling in an exterminator for severe cases of issues like termite infestation. Keep an eye out for any access points animals could use to get in and out of the property, as well as evidence of pests, such as droppings or damage to the property and furniture.

Noisy Neighbors

Neighbors can have a huge impact on how happy your life will be in a property. Noisy, aggressive or otherwise problematic neighbors could make you wish you’d never moved into a property in the first place. So ask around other neighboring homes to see whether anyone expresses any issues they’ve been having with anyone in the neighborhood. Listen out while doing a viewing too.

Hopefully, you don’t experience any of these issues when house hunting. But it’s generally best to keep an eye out for them to reduce your chances of experiencing issues once you’ve already moved in! This will save you time, effort, money and a whole lot of upset or frustration!
