It’s that time of year again! The kids are out of school and the summer fun has started. Before you run off to the beach, ballpark, or campground take a few minutes to prepare a natural first aid kit stocked with items to ensure more time is spent having fun, rather than sitting on the sidelines nursing painful burns, stings, boo-boo’s and other things that could throw your trip off track.
This is a no-brainer. If you are going to be outside for long periods of time, it’s ideal to have a good sunscreen on hand. I am pretty picky about what I use on my skin, but I always make sure to go for something that is more on the natural side and not filled with chemicals. For parents, consider using any product from Blue Lizard. For kids and babies, I’d recommend Thinkbaby products.
You can find many natural sunscreens in stores these days but choose wisely. Natural can be a vague term so make sure you do your homework first. Just because it has a natural label on it doesn’t mean it truly is.
Aloe vera is a crucial item to have in your kit. I remember the days where my mom had an actual aloe vera plant sitting in the kitchen window ready to use whenever one of us kids had a burn of any kind. It truly works. Of course, having an actual aloe vera plant is as natural as you can go but not everyone has the patience or time to take care of those.
So what can you grab in bottle form to take on the go? Consider buying Plunketts products. They offer it in lotion, gel and spray form. Plus, it’s affordable.
First Aid Ointment
Boo boo’s are going to be a definite thing if you have kids. I don’t know what it is about summer but mine tend to get the ouchies more often than what they do during the school year. Maybe they play harder and roughhouse more. Due to this, I love having a product on hand that will help soothe the pain whether it be from scrapes, cuts or burns.
Curoxen is an all natural first aid ointment that is 5X Stronger at killing germs than any other product on the market. It’s made from 3 clean, natural and organic products: oxygenated olive oil, calendula, and lavender essential oil. There is zero chance of having an allergic reaction to the product which I love and it won’t lead to antibiotic resistance.
I have peace of mind when using Curoxen. My youngest daughter has sensitive skin so as a mom I am pretty skeptical about what kind of products I use on her skin and even her boo boo’s. Curoxen gives moms like me that all natural option and I love it!
I’d like to mention that this product is featured in my 2018 Summer Fun Guide. Check it out!
When I think of natural items, biodegradable comes to mind. For band-aids, I have an awesome suggestion. Everyday Good Co. makes sustainable, biodegradable bandaids in nude, emoji and clear. They are good for sensitive skin, are latex free and made from part recycled materials. Pretty neat, huh?
If you are iffy about using those, there is also another option: All Terrain. They carry other natural first aid products as well, so check them out.
One thing I find most annoying about summer is the mosquitoes. So I want something on hand that I know will work but is all natural. I found that in Skedattle bug repellent products. It’s DEET free and made from essential oils. It comes in spray form and wipes. It’s also affordable which I love. A lot of your bug repellent brands rip you off and the products don’t work all that great.
A great option for the kids would be these Cliganic Mosquito Repellent Bracelets. They come in a variety of colors and the kids won’t put up a fight having to wear them.
While this is only a fraction of the items you will need to keep on hand this summer, these 5 are the most crucial to have in my opinion. I hope while you are busy preparing your kit that you keep these products in mind. 🙂
