4 Ways To Keep The Kids Entertained During The Hot Summer Months

Being in lockdown for over a year has been tough on all of us. With summer just around the corner and kids finishing up their school year, it is important to plan now and prepare for the months ahead if you are a parent. Now that restrictions have been lifted and places are opening again, it is a great time to get some ideas going on just how to keep the kids busy (and give you a break too!).

Here are some of the best ideas for ways of keeping your kids entertained during the hot summer months:

Look For Free Or Cheap Educational Games Online

Although I personally spent most of my time outside as a kid, I also happen to know being outdoors isn’t for everyone. Some kids just prefer being indoors during the hot summer months. There will also be days where it’s so hot that it’s highly recommended for everyone to stay indoors. With that said, this would be a good time to look into free or educational games online.

Plays.org offers a few different educational games such as typing, math, and spelling. As a parent who also happens to be a gamer, I’ve enjoyed using this site to play games to help pass the time. My personal favorite games on the site are the Simulation games. One game, in particular, I like to play is Tap Supermarket. My kids also enjoy playing the math games that are offered. They both hate math but playing a game makes it fun for them. Plays.org adds new games on a daily basis, so definitely check it out and have your kids check it out too. The best part in my opinion is that the games are browser-based.

Put A Pool In The Backyard

Every kid I have personally known enjoys a good swim especially during the hotter months of the year. This is a great way of helping to keep your kids cool in the heat, as well as providing a fun activity to do outdoors. It gives the experience of going to the swimming pool, but you don’t even need to leave the property to be able to achieve it. This is something that is a great way of being able to keep the children occupied and get them out of the house and is very cost-friendly.

Disney Movie Marathon

After a day of being out in the sun, consider a Disney movie marathon with the kids. This is a sure-fire way of keeping them out of trouble and is a great way to relax before bedtime. Disney has recently released the Disney+ online streaming service where weary parents can access the Disney back catalog and put on movies their kids actually want to watch. So go prepare some popcorn, grab a comfy blanket and cozy up on the couch!

Board Game Extravaganza

Many kids these days have never played a proper board game as it doesn’t involve a screen. There are a lot of things that they are missing out on as a result, and this is something you are going to need to make the most of right now. Make sure you look at choosing some classic board games to introduce the kids to and capture their imaginations.

As you can see, these are just a few of the key ideas and suggestions you can use that will help keep your kids busy this summer. Keeping your kids occupied is so important, and there are a lot of things that play a role in helping you with this. Make sure you make the most of the process and try to entertain the kids as effectively as you possibly can moving forward.
