April 27, 2020 at 4:05 pmIt has been an interesting month in quarantine. My husband is a teacher so I assumed we would rock the homeschooling thing, but turns out we aren’t so great. Luckily we have a great support system through the girls’ teachers, & the community has some great resources. I’ve been really touched by how our neighborhood has kept things entertaining. Our neighbors had to cancel their wedding so they left out all the bottled water they had been saving for people to take. Signs posted offering to run to the store for the elderly or letting people know they had extra TP if anyone needed it. Kids drawing in chalk happy pictures on everyones sidewalk. It has been very encouraging to see 🙂

April 28, 2020 at 7:59 pmMy father’s birthday is in April, and I’m currently “sheltering at home” with him. We’ve both been rather down lately, and I had been worrying a bit about what to do for his birthday– especially due to lack of energy and lack of funds.
However… It ended up being a wonderful day! I baked him a pineapple upside-down cake (a healthy version!), and decorated the front yard with a banner and balloons. He received SO MANY phone calls! My sister surprised him with a gift delivery, as well as a huge pizza delivery. There were other sweet little surprises, too. It was just a beautiful day, and it was so nice to see him so happy and feeling so loved.
