Cleaning Your Home Exterior This Spring

If you are looking for an excuse to get out of the house this weekend, one useful job you could do is clean the outside of your home. A lot of the time we forget about the exterior of our homes and they can become clogged up, dusty and in need of some TLC. If you fancy scrubbing up the outside of your home this weekend, here’s how.

The walls

The main bulk of your home is made up of your walls. This will be either brick, wood or could even be concrete, but it needs cleaning every now and again to maintain the health and strength of the home. One of the easiest ways you can clean the sides of your home is with shot blast cleaning; by using a pressure washer you can get rid of any lichen, moss, and mildew on the side of the home as well as insects.

The windows

The windows are likely the most obvious place you will want to clean when coming to wash the exterior of your home. Our windows are the main source of light into the home and the state of your windows can make a big difference to the overall look of the home. To clean your windows effectively all you need is warm water, some white vinegar, and a squeegee. Start off by spraying the windows with the water and vinegar mixture and then scrub the windows, and wipe off with a squeegee.

The doors

Our front door is the first thing which visitors will see when they come to the home, because of this we always want to keep it clean and fresh. The best way to do this is by simply mixing some soapy water in a bucket, taking a sponge and scrubbing the door gently in circular motion. Rinse off with clean water afterward and voila, a clean, brand new looking door!

The driveway

The driveway of our home can become clogged up with mud, Moss, debris, weeds and lots more die throughout the year. When you finally come to wash the driveway you will be surprised at what a difference it can make. The best way you can clean your pathway to make it look as good as new is by using a pressure washer. It will only take you a short amount of time and the whole job will be weirdly satisfying as you get rid of the dirt and unearth the real color of the driveway.

The garden

If you have a front garden to your home, it is important to maintain it and keep it tidy throughout the year. It will make your home seem much more inviting to your guests as well as people passing by and doesn’t need to be too difficult either. All you need is a lawnmower to trim the grass once in a while and the time one weekend to prune your shrubs and plant some perennials! This will all make your home feel bright, happy and full of life.
