4 Small Changes That Can Make A Big Difference To Your Home

[Credit]

As the summer comes to a close and you’re looking around your home (that, let’s face it, you’ll be spending a lot more time in as the winter draws in), you might be thinking about home renovations. It’s natural, so don’t worry. Instead, embrace the enthusiasm and consider making some changes that will improve how you use the space, the feel of your home and might even add some value here and there.

So, for 4 small changes you can make to your home to make a big difference, read on!

1. Update your porch or entryway

This area of your home is often left a little un-loved, or can be forgotten about. And that’s a shame, because the outside of your home is the first thing you’ll see as you, and people who visit you, will see. So, take a look at your entrance way. Does the porch need a lick of paint? Could you do with replacing the matt? Is there any decoration you can do to bring the place to life a bit, say, with some ornaments or carefully-placed mirrors

2. Think about lighting

The lighting throughout your home can make a huge difference in how it looks. For example, if the rooms are mainly lit by the main light above your head, it can look start, cold and not very cozy. However, if you scatter light sources throughout the room – wall sconces, standing lamps, table lamps – then you dissipate the light and make the place feel cozier and more considered. This is especially important in the winter, as you can’t rely on daylight as much.

3. Give it a lick of paint

Sometimes the simplest answers are the best. In this case, painting your home is one of the cheapest ways to make a huge difference. If your home is feeling tired and run down, then a repaint is a quick, achievable way of breathing new life into the place. You don’t have to be highly skilled and you just need a few tools to get the job done. And if you’re feeling more adventurous, you could consider painting furniture or even floors in exciting colors to give your home a more modern, considered feel. The world’s your oyster when it comes to painting!

4. Don’t forget the garden

Don’t forget that your home extends all the way out to your garden, so when you’re thinking about home renovations that will make a big difference, consider what you can do out there. For those lacking garden storage, having custom made sheds installed can transform the way your garden feels, as you can safely pack away garden furniture, toys and bikes. Additionally, you can transform a shed into a play area or den for teenagers to hang out in away from the house. Or, if you work from home, you can build a small home office that helps to separate ‘work’ and ‘home’.

Hopefully, this article has given you some things to think about when renovating your home. Good luck!
