Believe it or not, microwaving food is one of the healthiest ways for you to cook. It has super short cooking times and this results in minimal nutrient damage. Microwaves cook food by heating it from the inside. This can cause food to dry out, but if you put a paper towel over your dish then this can easily stop that. Boiling is quick and easy. All you need to do is add some water, and a bit of salt. The problem with boiling is that it washes away any water-soluble vitamins. You may also lose 70% of minerals as well. If you want to get around this then you need to make sure that you only boil vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, and even zucchini. These vegetables can withhold their nutrients and therefore are far more suited to boiling when compared to other vegetables.

Poaching

Poaching is very similar to boiling. You won’t have to worry about any additives and it can also give you a lower level of nutrient destruction. It is a great way for you to cook more delicate foods, such as fish, fruit or even eggs. When you poach something like fruit, it is also a great idea to save the water, as this can be used in other recipes to give you a bit of additional flavor.

Grilling

Grilling is a fantastic option because it gives you the chance to gain maximum nutrition without compromising flavor. You can grill things like meat, vegetables or even fruit in some instances. You do however have to note that grilling all the time is not good for you. If you regularly consume charred meat, then this may increase your chances of developing cancer. Cooking at high heat can also cause a chemical reaction to happen between the fat and the meat, which will create an imbalance of antioxidants. This can lead to diabetes too, but if you do it in moderation and incorporate other healthy ways of cooking, then there is no reason why you can’t reap the benefits.
