7 Reasons Why I’d Love to Visit Jamaica

As I get older, my bucket list grows longer. While I may want to visit places in the world that are a bit on the colder side, I’d also love to visit a few places that are a bit on the warm side. Ever since I was little thanks to a certain song, Jamaica has always peaked my interest. Jamaica, Bahamas, come on pretty Mama!

I’d like to share 7 reasons why I think a trip to Jamaica would be amazing.

Places To Stay

Houses for rent in Jamaica are no doubt amazing. While I may tend to keep things budget friendly, I’d easily splurge just a bit to make sure my family sleeps, stays and plays in comfort while there. Some homes you will find to rent have personal chefs, golf course access, secluded beaches (Yes please!) and much more. You are sure to find something you’ll love: villas with private beach access, fully staffed properties, and golf villas.

Beautiful Beaches

I live in a state where the beaches are fun to visit but the water is ugly. I have always dreamt of going to a place where I can see through the water to the ocean floor. Jamaica is known for this. You can also experience seeing some breathtaking sunrises and sunsets while sitting on the beach. I’d love to walk along the coast of the famous Seven Mile Beach.

The Tropical Climate

I always thought that Jamaica would be too hot for my liking. Little did I know that it’s actually on average between 80-90˚ Fahrenheit there all year round. With that said, a trip to Jamaica would be perfect during the winter months here in the United States. Definitely an option to keep in mind if you ever want to escape the cold.

The weather alone is the main reason why tourists flock to this beautiful island. Jamaica has a tropical marine climate which means the wind from the sea cools the land at day and night time. At night, the land is much cooler than the days. The Blue Mountains also contribute to the tropical weather. You will find the mountainous area cooler than the lower lying land right throughout the year. Thanks to this Jamaica is always vacation friendly.

The Food!

When it comes to exotic foods, I’d love the chance to try it fresh from the source. Jamaican food is no exception. One of the most well-known dishes to try is those that are jerk seasoned. Usually served on chicken or pork, jerk and curry seasoning pack a delicious punch. Another dish to try is the ackee and saltfish; ackee is a locally grown fruit sautéed and served with onions, peppers, tomatoes and salt cod. Seafood is caught daily by the Jamaican fisherman, presenting you the freshest cuisine possible.

Another thing I love about Jamaica is everything is locally sourced. Fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood and even eggs are all typically grown and sourced by the regional farmers in Jamaica.

Exotic Species (For The Nature Lovers)

Jamaica is home to lush rainforests and exotic flora and animals. As someone who is a huge lover of nature, seeing the rainforest and the beautiful flowers is something I know I’d enjoy. I’ve looked into places I’d love to visit and found one in particular I know I’d love. It’s called Mayfield Falls. It consists of 2 beautiful waterfalls, 21 natural pools, 52 types of ferns and lots of exotic flowers, plant species, birds, butterflies and wildlife native to Jamaica.

Of course, I’d also like to mention that I love animals too. I’d love to head to Rocklands Bird Sanctuary and experience feeding a hummingbird by hand. There are many other species of birds here but the list is long. The tour itself at the Sanctuary lasts for an hour.

Ziplining

Rainforests and ziplining make a superb duo in my opinion. What better way to see the rainforest and also zip line than at Mystic Mountain?

The ziplining tour includes:

  • SKY EXPLORER chair-lift
  • Six (6) platforms and Five (5) zip lines averaging nearly 100 meters in length
  • One 25-meter suspension walking bridge
  • Mystic Pavilion and Lookout Tower
  • Mystic Waterslide and Infinity-edge pool
  • Hummingbird Garden
  • Nature Trail

Mystic Mountain also offers bobsledding and tranopy tours. Definitely something worth checking out with the family.

Laid Back Atmosphere

Who said that just because you go here you have to do a whole bunch of fun things? In reality, you don’t. Jamaicans are very laid back and really know how to have a good time. They greet you the moment you land and want nothing more than for you to have an amazing time while with them.

I’d love to sit on the beach with a fellow Jamaican and have a conversation about life. Dancing is a big thing in Jamaica. So is the music. So I’d most likely find myself dancing to the music with a drink in hand and enjoying myself.

There you have it! My 7 reasons why I’d love to visit Jamaica and why I think you should too. I hope this post provides some insight into your next vacation or intrigues you in a way to add Jamaica to your bucket list of places to visit. The more I write about things I find interesting about Jamaica, the more my desire grows to plan a vacation there.
