5 Ways to Create a Cozy Guestroom for the Christmas Holidays

If you plan to have guests over during the Christmas holidays then you’re probably thinking about furnishing and cleaning your guest room. To make your guests feel welcome, it’s important to have a comfortable and relaxing place for them to sleep at night, else it could become pretty uncomfortable for them. In order to do this, you’ll need to make a few adjustments and improvements to your guest room, so here are five great ideas that you could follow.

Tip #1: Create a guest room

This sounds really simple and basic, but not everyone actually has a spare room for their guests. However, if you have a study or similar room that won’t be in use, then it’s possible to turn it into a spare guest room for the holidays. If you have leather furnishings in your study, URAD.com offers a wide range of premium leather care products that are perfect for keeping any cherished leather items looking like new. If you have extra bedrooms that are already assigned to your children, then you may want to ask your kids to sleep in the same room for a few nights so you can furnish one of them as a guest room. If your guests will be coming with children or if you just need more beds, consider a temporary solution such as an airbed from Bed and Spaces. They’re convenient, can be packed away when not in use and don’t cost as much as a full-sized bed. You’ll also want to clear out any personal items in the rooms so that your guests can use things like tables, wardrobes, and drawers in their converted guest room.

Tip #2: Prepare some items in the guest room

Make sure you prepare a guest tray for when they arrive. Include things like magazines and books if you want to keep them entertained, and make sure there are some spare toiletries and towels for them to use. Some bottles of water would also be appreciated and you could decorate it with some festive items like pies, snacks, and other small items. Toiletries should be separated with another box if possible and entertainment like books and magazines could be placed in other locations such as the bedside table.

Tip #3: Clean the bedding and fluff the pillows

Give your guests extra comfort when they jump into bed by making sure you give them fresh clean sheets that have just been washed instead of old covers and sheets that you’ve had in storage. Fluff up the pillows too to give them a sense of luxury and comfort. You don’t need to go and buy new sheets and linen unless you don’t have anything spare.

Tip #4: Add some festive decorations

Since your guests will be coming over for Christmas it’s important to add a few festive decorations. For instance, you could replace the curtains with red ones, you could add a couple of candles around the room, you could add a small Christmas tree onto a shelf or table and you could hang some festive decorations like a wreath or red socks.

Tip #5: Make use of scents

It doesn’t have to be overpowering, but use fragrances to add some festive spirit to your guest room. There are plenty of fantastic Christmas scents that you can make use of to add more comfort to your guest room.
