Things Will Generally Be Cheaper
Pick any large city, and then take a look at the cost of property there. Now do the same with a rural area. Notice something? That’s right; prices are much cheaper the further away from the big cities you move! For the cost of a two-bedroom apartment in a busy urban area, you could buy an entire home – often a very large home – in a rural zone. Simply put, your money will go a lot further. Because rent is cheaper, you’ll also find things in restaurants, bars, and some shops less expensive than in their city counterparts, too.
But Some Things Will Cost More
However, that doesn’t mean that everything is cheaper. This is absolutely not the case. Take, for example, your transport. In the city, you can get around via affordable public transport. When you live in the middle of nowhere, you’re going to need a car; there are no two ways about it. Then there’s also the matter of competition for business. In the city, there are many companies vying for your business. In the countryside, this won’t be the case. So if you need a specific product or service, then you might just have to suck up the cost, even though it’s much more than what you paid in the city.
A Slower Pace of Life
Of course, moving to the country isn’t all about costs, even though it might be a big factor. There’s a reason why there’s such a “city v rural life” debate; they’re so different! In the city, you’ve got lights and noises blaring at all hours of the day and night. On the streets, anything can and often does happen. But there’s nothing of this sort in rural areas. There, things are a little sleepier. Not much happens, it’s all about living the simple life – indeed, that’s what draws people there in the first place.
Living with Nature
In urban areas, you’re more or less immune from the natural world. Everything is manmade, and while you might come across rats from time to time, “nature” will be something that’s far away. In rural areas, this is not the case: nature and wildlife are everywhere! You might, from time to time, need to work with a snake removal expert or get used to clearing away spiders and other insects from your property. It’s just part of country life!
You’ll Want to Research The Area Properly
Finally, remember that it’s important to research the area you’re planning on moving to thoroughly. Not all small-towns or rural areas are the same!
