4 Fitness Ideas for People Who Hate Working Out

[Credit]

So, January has come around, and that means there are likely more than a few people who have made it their New Year’s Resolution to get in shape. This is admirable, for sure, but a lot of folks soon realize that they don’t like working out. They don’t like going to the gym. They hate sweating. They would rather sit on the sofa and relax. However, you shouldn’t avoid fitness just because you hate working out, so it’s a good thing that there are other options for you to consider to stay in shape without going to the gym.

A Breath of Fresh Air

The benefits of clean fresh air are something you cannot ignore, and, unless you’re confined to a World War 2 bunker, you’ve got plenty of fresh air to experience whether you live in the heart of the city or out in the countryside. Of course, it’s not enough to just head outside and breathe in the air, so go for a walk or a jog around the block, explore areas you’re unfamiliar with (but which are still safe), and go for as long as you can. If you do this every day, you’ll see the benefits soon enough.

Find Your Fitness

Lifting weights, running around the park, or doing 100 pushups a day isn’t for everybody. Still, there are plenty of other ways that you can get into shape and feel better both outside and in. Consider looking into a personal trainer who can help you figure out where you should start and go from there. Who knows. Maybe getting personal trainer certification may be your ticket to getting more out of fitness in general.

You could also consider getting a Fitbit (https://mobilemob.com.au/blogs/news/updated-fitbit-inspire-2-tracker-specifications) and tracking your fitness/progress that way. I personally have one and love that it tracks so many different things.

Your Commute

While a lot of people are currently working from home, this doesn’t apply to everybody. If you still need to travel to work, consider adjusting your commute to get there a healthier way. Walking to work is ideal, but it’s not always possible. In this case, regular bicycles or even electric bikes (to help surmount steep hills and give you a break) will also get the blood pumping and muscles moving. What’s more, it’s better for the environment, so you can feel you’re doing your part, too.

Spring Cleaning

Keeping the house tidy is something that a lot of people dread. The idea of spending all day cleaning all the floors, sweeping away dust and dropped food, and wiping down surfaces is far from their idea of fun. However, you’d be surprised how many steps you take when vacuuming the house, whether it’s a two-story family home or an apartment. Put on some energetic music and get into the cleaning zone. You’ll easily hit your daily steps limit and also tick your housekeeping off your to-do list at the same time.

Dance Till You Drop

Dancing is a fantastic way to get into shape, and it doesn’t require any special equipment. All you need is something to dance to and the space to flail around, throwing your hands in the air like you just don’t care. The harder you go, the more calories you will burn, so you’ll quickly see the results you want. Dancing will also reduce stress, putting you at ease with your life, and eliminating your frustrations.

If you’ve decided that 2021 is your year to get healthy, consider these options, you might just find something that works for you.
