If you were to think about the one room in your house that you loved the most, which would it be? For some people, it’s always going to be the kitchen, while others will love their cozy living space. But then there are those of us that are all about the bathroom. It’s the room that you can pamper in, feel refreshed in, and just relax in too. But when your bathroom has seen better days, you’d probably never put it in your top five, let alone allow it to come first. When that’s the case, you’re certainly missing out – and no one should have to suffer with a subpar bathroom.

So, now’s the time to get your decorating brain on and think about transforming the space you have. Whether you’ve just bought somewhere new, or you’ve been meaning to upgrade what you’ve got for ages, as soon as you get started, you’ll wonder what took you so long. Because there’s nothing quite like a stunning bathroom. And the best news is, that it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune or take too long either. Whether you choose to buy a brand new suite or just do what you can, these ten tips are sure to come in handy.

Here’s how you can transform your tired old bathroom into something much more special, in just ten steps.

  1. Look For Inspiration

Before you get started, it’s always a good idea to seek out some inspiration. Because, believe it or not, trying to come up with your dream bathroom isn’t always that easy. Yes, you want it to be nice, and yes you want it to look good, but in theory, that can be so much harder to visualize. But, when you take a look at some bathroom designs, you’ll find that you can start to picture what you want yours to look like.

  1. Shop For Suites

From here, you’re then going to want to take a look at some suites that are available. And price wise, you can make this as cost-effective or as indulgent as you like because suites will always vary in price. But at this stage, it’s going to be a good idea to see what’s available, so that you can work out what pieces you want to put into your new dream bathroom. But don’t buy at this stage, although it won’t be long before you can place your order.

  1. Rip Out What You Have

Now that you’re really getting into the process, you’re going to need to rip out what you have in place. Ideally, you’ll do this right before your new suite is due to be installed. Or, if you have more than one bathroom in the home, it won’t matter how long you leave it. But, you will want to make sure that you do your bathroom demolition right. You’re going to need to get rid of the old suite, and remove any old tiles, wallpaper, flooring, or wall detailing that you no longer want.

  1. Measure Up

From here, you then need to measure your bathroom for the new suite. Depending on the retailer that you shop with, they may come and do this for you. But, in general, you’re going to need to measure up yourself, then place your order for the suite that you think will fit, based on those measurements.

  1. Start With The Walls

Now that you’re faced with pretty much a blank canvas, it’s time to start bringing your new bathroom to life. And to do this, you need to work on those walls. Whether you’re painting or tiling, you’re going to want to get the bulk of this done before you put the suite in, so it’s always the best place to start.

  1. Install The Suite

It’s usually at this point that you’re going to want to work the suite in. You can sometimes do this after the floor is installed, but you may need to fit the floor around the suite, so in most cases, this will need to be done first. For this part, you’re going to want a plumber to do the work, as connecting up the water can be a bit difficult for a novice.

  1. Finish The Floor

Then it’s onto the floor. If you are tiling, then you may want to use the same tiles on the flooring as you have the walls. But, if not, you’re going to want to pick out and install your flooring next. You can make sure that your flooring fits around your suite, and then work on putting the last finishing touches on the bulk of your suite installation too.

  1. Pick The Details

Now you’re going to get to have some fun with your bathroom and bring it to life. While you may have actually picked these pieces out during your initial suite shop, it’s time to add in the details. This will include stunning sinks such as the shop Unique Vanities pieces but taps too. Because it’s usually these finishing touches that really make sure your dream bathroom is as dreamy as it can be.

  1. Accessorize The Space

It’s at this point that your bathroom is going to feel like it’s coming together well. The bulk of it will be finished, but it’s probably not perfect. This means that you’re now going to want to focus on the accessories. From cute candles to fluffy towels, you need to go to town on all the added extras that will make your bathroom become your favorite room in the house.

  1. Relax & Enjoy

And finally, your tired old bathroom will finally be transformed into the beautiful new bathroom it deserves to be. So that means that now, all that’s left to do is indulge in the best bath ever. Because when you have such a beautiful bathroom, and you’ve worked so hard on it, you definitely have to pour yourself a bath and enjoy a long soak in the tub to celebrate.
